What to make of this B&W?
The canopy of the tree is really disturbing.
Will this kid ever see the blue sky
and the shinning stars?
Will the sun enlights his way?
A sad picture found in my photo vault.
Kasia did not like it.
Neither do I.
However I must listen to its message.
Life is suffering, my boy, life is hard.

Board No 1
Nice texture with a crazy violation of a compostional rule: "keep it together." The division between the boards split the photo in 2 and the eyes cannot pass easily from the left to the right side of the photo. What holds the whole? I think it is the resonance between the 2 knots in the right that by orientation and location give balance to the lock and handle in the left side.
Holiness
Yesterday I decided to start a photo project. I will compile photos and probably verses about the material world. A photobook, "The four elements: Fire, Water, Heaven, Earth." A honor to the life beauty of life and the joy of being alive.
Each element will be presented in 8 or 10 photos. Here is "My Holiness."

Abstraction No 1
I like what math calls, "two-dimensional topological manifold."
What to say about this image but that it is a topoligical manifold. A color set of surfaces burned into reality, captured by a camera triggered by my right hand finger from the six floor of a hotel room on a foregone day.
I see my techniques still evolving toward an unknown direction.
What a bliss!

Tear of the earth
Misstepping
Sometimes we found the shot in unexpected places. Going up the steps, I was struck by the geometrical patterns that the windows, the rails and the steps. The patterns in the wall were also pleasing.
A tough image because of the all the noise due to the poor lighting. I blended the shadows and the hightlights. I wish I could have focused , however that will be another day. I cannot even remember where I took it. Probably in Europe.

Forever young
Winter light
This is the second time that I work on this image that was taken 5 years ago. I always thought that she waited for me. Well, here I am back.
This was taken with the Nikon d70. No much to say but that we have an abstract composition. If the stick has not been near the center, I believe that it would be more 2 dimensional. Its presence disturbs the image. Is it a tree growing up from the high rocks raising toward the sky or is it at eye level?

Interception II
Sometimes, we go to do it. Tonight I felt that I needed to work with my photos but I did not have much energy for it. Still I jumped in.
Here it is an image I found really boring at the start. I gave up; then I decided to just printed. In that process, photoshop forced me to see just a segment of the image. Then I saw it. A nice balance of light and darkness. Ying and Yang stepping in view. I am please.

Bound
Maybe this is not such a good photo. I do not know. Tonight I want to play around and this image had waited for me for a long long time. Actually I took it years ago. I always passed it by.
It took me some minor cropping and the standard things: noise corrections, Lab color enhancement and L sharpening. However I am not sure that it is still right. I will keep it in mind and one day, maybe years from now, I will give it another try.

I love when the sun paints the sky on a late afternoon. The sun surprises me with shapes and colors that only wet-on-wet watercolors can do.
This image was taken the other day, just before the storm hit us. It feels me with joy.
I find interesting that the focus of attention bounces between the foreground and the background. The image was slightly manipulated to bring out shadow details in Lab space.

The stare
In a short vacation in Berlin, I walked into a small bookstore. Suddenly I saw her staring a me and holding my soul in her deep eyes.
The photo itself has no much corrections but a little LAB sharpening and minor JPEG noise correction: to bring the writing out. I was so please with her deep eyes that I left her untouched.
In particular, I like that this color photo could also be percieved as a B&W with some coloring. Also I like the compostional elements of multiple squares in several perspectives. A simple picture that I would not mind hanging on my walls. Lady luck.
